"If a commission by an earthly king is considered a honor, how can a commission by a Heavenly King be considered a sacrifice?"

- David Livingstone (Scottish missionary)

Wow... this quote blew me away when I heard it during YWAM Base Worship just now.

It's true, isn't it? How we think that having to leave our comfort zone, going into unfamiliar territory, quitting our high-paying jobs to be a 'poor' church worker or missionary are seen as "sacrifices".

As princes and princesses of the King of kings, it is an honour for our Father to commission us to do His will on this earth.
Joseph Chean, Base Director of YWAM said, he has stopped asking God "what is Your will for my life?". He now asks "God, how can You use what You have given me to fulfil Your dreams/visions/will?"

Difficult to fathom.
Hard to let go.
A struggle.
Flesh vs spirit.
World vs God.
Social expectations vs Godly obligations.
Pride vs humility.

"But whatever was to my profit I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. What is more, I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them rubbish, that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ—the righteousness that comes from God and is by faith. I want to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of sharing in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, and so, somehow, to attain to the resurrection from the dead."

Philippians 3: 7-11

Johnson read this yesterday after worship. Never knew what it meant until today.
