| Your Dominant Intelligence is Musical Intelligence |
Every part of your life has a beat, and you're often tapping your fingers or toes. You enjoy sounds of all types, but you also find sound can distract you at the wrong time. You are probably a gifted musician of some sort - even if you haven't realized it. Also a music lover, you tend to appreciate artists of all kinds. You would make a great musician, disc jockey, singer, or composer. |

the whole tooth and nothing but the tooth
Rare picture with Ariel "Beautiful Eyes" Toh
The pain started again on Saturday and lasted till today! Finally got it extracted, along with the wisdom tooth on the upper right, this afternoon! I know Ailing and my godsis-in-law will disagree with me. But having watched enough shows on pregnant women in labour on Discovery Health Channel, I now know what it means when the preggie screams "get it out of me!". Okie okie... I know labour pain's much worse but that was the closest thing I could find to describe how I felt! The pain that stupid wisdom tooth was causing me was excruciating! I was even talking with a lisp! You know you can rub a bruise on your leg, or scratch a mozzie-bite on your arm and Daddy can fix my sprained ankle by rubbing some ointment on it. But you can't do anything with a toothache!!!! The pain was so annoying that I wanted my cell boys to punch me so hard on my left jaw just so my tooth will fall out! Thank God they didn't, though I think I tempted them. :P
Eating has never felt so torturous! Just closing my mouth to chew was painful. I didn't even finish the nice fish beehoon at Little Jumbo. By dinner time at my Aunt Gean's, I was famished. But eating steamboat wasn't easy as well. :(
I was praying so hard that they were able to remove the lower wisdom tooth by extraction because the price list at the dental clinic said "Surgical Removal of Wisdom Tooth: $400 - $500". Like I told many of you, I'd rather spend the money on a luxury commodity than pulling out my tooth! Thank God Almighty that the dentist only needed to make a minor incision on my lower wisdom took before extraction and my upper one just required a no-fuss extraction. All in all:
Extraction of upper right wisdom tooth: $80
Minor surgery on lower left wisdom tooth: $200
Medication: $20
Good riddance to annoying pain caused by a useless tooth: Priceless
Now I'm experiencing a different sort of pain. One which doesn't allow me to talk much. That's a good thing, right? :) Can still taste blood and I've had some blood clots falling on my tongue already. Quite gross.
Mummy dearest has been the most empathetic. Really! Knowing that I had an appointment to remove my very wise teeth, she asked me before she prepared dinner whether I can consume rice. I told her my wounds are painful and requested for porridge. She told me to go get it myself! Furthermore, she made stir-fried beansprouts with salted fish (I had all of 2 beansprouts) and steamed fish eggs, which thankfully are quite soft. Naturally I was still hungry after a sumptuous dinner of no rice, 2 beansprouts and some fish eggs. So I went to buy Maggi Mashed Potato from 7-Eleven. The price inflated by 20 cents! Cheater-bug!
So that was today. Moo assured me that tomorrow will be less painful. 明天会跟好!

lost and found
I admit that I haven't been spending much time with God in regards to the career path He wants me to take. And it is sobering and humbling to hear it from 2 people today.
Okie. I will seek first His Kingdom and His righteousness and things will fall into place.
Pray for me to perservere and be disciplined.

aw... so sweet!
Janice's and Gideon's wedding on Saturday was so sweet! The couple met in China, when Janice, a Singaporean, was there on her DTS outreach, and Gideon, a Filipino, was a missionary there. They had a long-distance relationship, not without their struggles. I'm sure Pris can totally empathise with them. :) Being away from the one you love is hard enough. Allowing your family time to understand and accept the man you love is another obstacle they had to cross. Having an inter-cultural relationship isn't the easiest thing either. The couple shared in the video, made lovingly by Papa Sam, Lynn and Tee, that communication was tough because of the differences in culture and family background. But they made it through 1 and a half years of courtship. It is indeed a divine match intervened by the Divine Matchemaker. Across cultural, geographical and physical barriers.
They managed to spend their first Valentine's Day together this year. Gideon, being a romantic Filipino, gave her flowers which he planted himself and made her sushi.
The wedding was beautiful. Janice look so beautiful in her halter gown with a long embroidered 1920s lace train. Gideon also sang the song when she walked down the aisle. And her eyes were just fixed on him when she was making her way towards the altar. He also sang her a song he wrote for her, called Promise You. It was utterly sweet!!
It was a great time for us to catch up with the multitude of YWAMers who were there. :) Jillian then brought us, Alisa, Saion and myself, to The Tea Party at Six Avenue Centre. Spent out time there having tea and scones, just chilling and waiting for the rain to stop so that jill can go back to study. If I haven't told you about his place yet, place do go check it out. It's a great place to sample the different kinds of teas they have, try the delicious, and I mean DELICIOUS, scones, chill, read a book and watch life pass by. Seriously, go visit the place. Let's go together! :)

And... well, you get the drift. Yes, that's right. We may be the King, but you my friend, are the almighty ruler. "What?????? A bit blasphemous, don't you think??

happi days

Caught Daphne, my friend from secondary school, on Saturday for lunch at Ramen Ramen and shopping. Wanted to meet my cousins who were at Pacific Plaza for makeovers but didn't in the end. Went down to church to meet Boon and the rest for dinner at Crystal Jade before going down to Jurong East for Bea's grandfather's wake.

Daphne and me, after 13 years :)
Was my Aunt Gean's wedding yesterday. She looked beautiful and it was great seeing my cousins dress up! We took lots of pictures together! White was the theme for day and black for night. :) Shin actually dreamt of my Grand-dad 2 nights before the wedding. We were sitting at a long table celebrating, perhaps my Aunt's wedding. And he was the last to sit down. He looked really happy when he did. During the tea ceremony, Grandma also reminded my Aunt to serve my Grand-dad tea. Brought tears to our eyes. Wished he was here! :(

Ok.. So my tube's black.. But I wore a white skirt :P
Check out my Aunt's pretty bouquet of pink roses with some kind of berry and little pearls :)
Shin left all her make-up at hostel. So as good cousins will do, we met her at the toilet at the restaurant to give her a full make-over. Powder, eye-liner, mascara, blusher, the works! See what a little colour on the face can do? :)

Wong cousins pretty in black!
Missed out on the gender-based discussion in church yesterday tho. Hope it went well. :) SJSMers, please tell me all about it ya? :)

Stoopid Singtel!
1) The technician they sent is 58 years old. he was configuring my dad's com when he discovered that the window was too small and started to adjust my dad's monitor. i had to tell him that all he has to do is to close the window at the side and the current one will enlarge. he was thus enlightened.
2) we had to call Singtel to get my dad's user-id and password when they should have sent it via snail mail. we went down to apply a month ago, mind you. after calling 1610 a dozen times and listening to horrible music for 45 minutes, we finally got his user-id and password.
3) the so-called technician tried to install the wireless USB adapter we bought on my comp but my comp failed to detect wireless connections. he gave up and told me that i've got to delete some programs before i can do anything else. AND HE LEFT! isn't he suppose to make sure all computers involved are properly configured before he can leave the site???!!!
4) so i was trying to configure my dad's outlook express so that he can access his email. found out that the password's not working. called 1610 and was put on hold for 30 mins because of their "high volume of calls (complaints)" before i got to speak to a human being. she was rude and demanded that she can only reveal the password to the subscriber. i was really pissed and passed the phone to my dad. she then repeated the same password and said she'll reset it and told us to try 10 minutes later. i was like shouting in the background that i gotta dial the damn number and waste my time waiting if it doesn't work. that was exactly what happened.
5) dialed 1610 3 times because if was automatically cut off after waiting 20 minutes. reached the operator who tole me i should be calling the mio helpdesk. why the bloody hell didn't anyone tell me i can call this number direct???
6) called the mio helpdesk. same situation - got cut off after 20 mins. gave up after 2 tries.
7) the last i know, the password issue is still not resolved.
the inconvenience of not being able to check his email. if my dad's a rich businessman, would Singtel be able to afford to pay the lose of time and money because my dad has no access to his email???? what kind of bloody service is this????
no wonder they're forever "experiencing high call volumes" because people are just so unsatisfied with their service and wanna complain!
dad's friend promised to come over to fix my comp and my wireless connection, or lack of, last night. but he didn't turn up. dad came back and told me he'll come tonight (which he did) because he got home late. he could have just called and tell us that he';ll postpone instead of mum and i waiting at home like fools! decided not to blow my fuse at dad coz he'll just be affected. i'd already done enough screaming regarding points (1) to (5) and he knows i'm really really unhappy with Singtel.
should have listened to Moo and persuaded daddy to apply for max online instead :(

overdue update
This year's reunion dinner was spent at my eldest uncle's place. On my way there, I was listening to this song by Sandy Lam and I started missing my Grand-dad so much! Took everything within me to stop myself from crying on the bus.

update

The lil ones in their new room
Saturday was Su-lene's surprise birthday at HV Crystal Jade. =) After which was supper with Chris, Abi, Shannon, Josh and Boon at Al-Ameen. Seriously sinful!
Sunday was fun! Luncheon at BK with 1/2 of my cell. It was quite nice talking to Carmen and Irwin actually. Ice-cream later with Lisa and Boon at Gelare's.
Later, Thanksgiving cum farwell steamboast and lo hei at Izzy's! Mummy Chia and "Boss" prepared a spread for us! We had different types of fish, scallops, prawns, lots of vege, golden mushrooms, crabsticks, glass noodles, egg noodles, fishballs and bird balls (eggs lah)! Even with SK, Josco, Aman and myself, we barely finished 1/4 of what was laid out for us! And sweet Izzy made dessert for us! Peaches, grapes and strawberries dipped in dark chocoloate and drizzled with white chocolate. Yum!! Salmon Yu Sheng from Hooked On Heads was really yummy too! Another sinful day! For more info, please refer to Chris' blog. =)

Monday's relationship talk was quite good, though The Most Honourable Mrs Durai pointed out that a lot of essential points on dating and marriage were not discussed. This ended with yet another round of supper and drinks at Clementi.
Chrissy left on Tuesday. We made him a collage and wrote lil notes which were pinned onto the other side of the board because someone brilliantly pasted the photoson the wrong side. =P Aunty Julia told me to keep the faith in my job search, which was really sweet of her. =)

Was in JB with my God-bro before I went to the airport to send Chris off. Thank God for Dunkin' Donuts! If they hadn't made me so happy, I would have blown their heads off! No offense to Malaysians k? I'm just ranting.
So me God-bro was taking a smoke before we make our way up to the immigration counters on our way back to Sg. He then threw the cigarette butt on the floor. A Malaysian policeman then approached him and asked for his I/C. He was broght into a room and told that he was littering and the fine was RM250. God-bro said that he was in a rush and that he didn't have that much money with him. The officer hesitated and asked how much he has. God-bro said he has about RM20 and he needs some money to go home as well. Officer then pointed to a basket under the table and told God-bro to put his RM20 there. I was UTTERLY DISGUSTED!! I was fuming mad but God-bro told me that they had to resort to corruption because they're not paid enough. I mean, if the government's not going to respect their "law-enforcers" enough to pay them more than a meagre wage, then no one is going to respect them as keepers of the law!
This aside, we went up to the immigration counters. I happen to receive a call then and I picked it up. The immigration officer told me to end the call and show some respect. So I did and I asked, "Show respect to what?" He was so worked up and told me that I'm not showing them respect by talking on the phone in front of them. What???? I rolled my eyes so vigorously I thought my eyeballs were gonna fall out! The one thing that was keeping me from retaliating and making sarcastic remarks which he'll probably not understand is the Dunkin' Donuts in my stomach. I don't need to take this s*** since I'm contributing to your GDP! What atrocity!
*Deep breaths*

unique and distinct
God has called us to be unique and distinct in the world we live in, in our schools, our universities and our workplaces. What will make us stand out as the salt of the earth and light of the world? By the way we pray? By going on outreach/humanitarian trips? By attending services on Sundays?
We have a loving and personal God who wants to have a relationship with us. He is able to relate to us because He had come down to earth to be among filth like us. Because of His grace and mercy. Because of His great love. We are unique and distinct because we have a relationship with our Heavenly Father. We do not have to do anything to earn His love and salvation. And we're compelled to love His people because He has first loved us. We're commanded to make disciples, not converts.
You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men.
You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.

By the way, we made 2 people really happy yesterday! =)

lesson learnt in the midst of despair
Then I remembered how this guy, LKB, who was a fellow band member in secondary school, who also happened to study at JI, used to tease me about my weight as well. And me trying not to burst out crying in the canteen.
And I was crying out to God and basically just whining to Him. He then reminded me that people put others down to hide insecurities, to make themselves feel better. Aren't we all guilty of this? I'm totally guilty! One of the things I really like is sacarstic humour, which basically means I think it's funny when someone puts someone else down. I use sacarstic humour when I try to be funny as well. I guess I mistook sacarsm for wit.
Another thing I do all the time is I deliberately pick out physical or character flaws of beautiful people! Knowing that we're all not perfect makes me feel better about myself! Knowing that Fiona Xie is cross-eyed, and that Jessica Alba has fat genes make me feel good! Alright, secret's out! It's quite sick isn't it?
I'm still learning. Like how thoughts of T's and LKB's failures are popping in my head now. Okie. I'm trying really hard to suppress any unkind words which are at the tip of my tongue.
Hey! Where's the love? Jesus commanded us to love our neighbours (good and bad ones), and to build one another up with encouraging words.
So let's! =)
Met Grandma for lunch this afternoon. I'm happy!

strange phenomenons
Spotted this Korean/Japanese man feeling rather at home at the foodcourt at Terminal 1, where there was a sign which explicitly states that such behaviour is not allowed there. Believe it or not.

Phenomena #2: Attack of the Trojan Kind
Kaspersky Online Virus Scan revealed, after scanning only 73% of my computer, that I have 10 viruses in 26 of my files! All because I opened a .wmv file my godmum sent me. And it's really slowing my comp down, amongst other things it's/they're doing to my comp. It took me 30 minutes to type out and post this entry because my stupid computer is prcessing at a ridiculous pace!
Phenomena #3: Getai Fever
I have no idea why getais exist at all! And why they have them all year round! And why they're so freaking LOUD! Are they afraid that fans in JB wouldn't be able to hear them from Bukit Batok??? Coupled with middle-aged women with screeching voices belting out retro Hokkien songs, unbearable is an understatement! It's driving me nuts!

Messages from afar
He sounded so lost! And says that he doesn't feel God. He's angry that he's been rejected because he "lacks financial capacity". He lamented that he's suppose to be an heir in God's kingdom but man sees him as a poor Burmese dude.
Managed to share some verses and pray with him. To reaffirm his faith and encourage him to continue trusting in our Father.
I'm in turn reaffirming my own faith - to trust DADDY God to provide me with a job (and my nam-pyung.. heh..) soon.
It was good just talking to him. Thank God for technology! I wish I could be there for him though. He has been such an encouraging friend and brother! And his love for people is just so contagious! I feel really bad for him because he really was looking forward to go to Australia to study. And him spending so much money on his visa application and having to endure the humiliation for being poor. I can only imagine what he's going through.
Shared with him Gen 50:20 on God's redeeming power.
Hope he was encouraged and pray that God will show His sovereignty in this situation. =)
** Wanted to upload pictures but my comp's screwed up by some .wmv file I downloaded. Sigh. Think it's infected again.

what's a boy gotta do?
Wanted to appeal to ACS(I).
But he didn't because mummy dearest, who insisted that he put it as his first choice eventhough he's 1 point short, decided that school fees is going to be a problem. Did this even cross her mind when she INSISTED that he put ACS(I), SJI and Hwa Chong as his first 3 choices? He says it's alright because it'll be more embarrassing to be kicked out of the school due to his inability to pay his school fees.
Now he's got to catch the bus from his place at 0545 hrs in order to be in school on time. And daddy dearest is not freaking taking up the responsibility to drive him to school.
He wanted to join interesting CCAs but some require expensive equipment which he cannot afford.
Heard the school's going to test them on their swimming abilities next week. If they fail the test, they'll have to take swimming lessons at $30/lesson. Praying that he'll pass or that Edusave can be used to pay for the 10-week lessons.
He's got a $200 bursary which he is going to collect with my mum because he doesn't want daddy dearest to go with him. He doesn't know. He can't know. He's already inconsistent in paying the alimony every month.
He is barely 13. And having to contend with financial problems. All because of certain choices his stupid parents chose to make. Abandoning 2 kids, ages 12 and 19, with a 74-year-old grandma , who has to cook and clean, is not the most responsible thing to do, is it?
Are there any other ways they can seek financial support besides bursaries? Don't know whether he's eligible for scholarships though.
Sorry. Am just ranting. It's really unfair for a brilliant and sensible boy to miss out on opportunities because he can't afford it.
